The Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan took into account the development trend of
international certification, integrated domestic certification resources, and merged the
business of the Chinese National Laboratory Accreditation (CNLA) and Chinese National
Accreditation Board (CNAB). It built the conformity assessment infrastructure in accordance with
the agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), and established Taiwan Accreditation
Foundation (TAF).
TAF provides fair, objective, independent and third-party certification services that comply
with international standards. It promotes the international certification of various domestic
verification agencies and laboratories, and establish the evaluation standards for the quality
and technical capabilities of domestic conformity assessment agencies (verification agencies,
inspection agencies, laboratories, etc.).
TAF continues to maintain and use the mutual recognition agreement mechanism of international
certification organizations to actively participate in the activities of international
or regional certification organizations or host international certification activities. The
conformity assessment system is in line with international standards, and the testing and
verification results are internationally recognized, achieving "one certification,
Global acceptance" is beneficial to economic and trade development.
